Vespa PX80 - Continental Style. Bought new in Germany during my gap year, then personally imported into the UK. Cracked the sump on the kerb when I skidded on ice.

Yamaha RXS100 - Learner Machine. Bought in order to do my test. Passed first time. Used to ride up and down the A4 to Salisbury plain each weekend. Zero maintenance required and depreciated by only £100 over 18 months.

Honda CB350S - Naked Roadster. Bought with student loan. Honed my skills keeping up with mates on RG250s with less weight and more power. Used to travel up and down to A1 to my parents in Lincolnshire. Written off by an unlicenced minicab driver at a t-junction.

Honda CB350S - First Tourer. So good I bought another one! Several two-up camping trips to Devon, then month long trip to Paris, Lyon and Naples. Ran it dry of oil on the autostrada, then 2 months later the big end bearings broke up.

Kawasaki ZZR-600 - Speed Monster. Got me a speeding ticket within two hours of picking it up. Chain snapped on the motorway at 100mph on the way back from Lyon. Very, very fast!

Yamaha XT600E - Green Machine. Bought new as a Euro import. First off-road experience on Rally of Discovery in Ireland. Started riding green lanes and competing in rallyes in the UK. Did a desert camping trip to the Moroccan Sahara. Used to explosively blow oil out of the crankcase breather.

Honda XRV750 - Dakar Wannabe. Bought for touring, but can hustle through the corners when in the mood. A return trip to the Moroccan Atlas, plus Spain and France. Written off by an agricultural trailer outside a car boot sale in the UK.

Honda XLR250 - Dirt Cheap Dirt Bike. 15 year old Jap import. Green laning in the UK and a number of rallyes. Endlessly abused and never missed a beat.

Honda XRV750 - So good I got another one! Road trip to the Nordkapp, round trip of the Baltic Sea planned. It just works.

Honda XR400R - Enduro Wannabe. First experience of motocross and enduro in Sweden.
